IT CAN BEA DIFFICULT CHOICE TO MAKE

If you know the person who is to receive to knife very well then the choice is really quite simple because it is possible to go directly into the knife category that you think will suit the person best of all.

If you also know what type of hobbies and interests the person has this make the choice even easier.  But, if the knife is going to be a present for a special occasion such as a christening, birthday or as a confirmation present the choice can and often in daunting, it is also true to say that the question of price also plays an important part in choosing which knife to buy.

THE WORKING KNIFE

… A knife for everyday use.

This type of knife usually classifies as a working knife. It is a typical all round knife that is designed for everyday use. For people who work outdoors, in forest areas, in the household or out at their holiday homes, this type of knife is a perfect choice.  It is also great for those who walk in the mountains, and for various types of hobby work where the knife is a necessary tool.

It is exceptionally well suited to children from the age of 14 years upwards, for scouts, and not to forget the craftsmen such as woodworkers and carpenters.

This type of knife is the most popular type of knife bought for Christening presents Confirmations and other special occasions.

As the name suggests, these knives are designed for the outdoor life.  They range in size from medium to large. There are also some knives in this category that are similar to those used by those who live in Lapland.

DECORATIVE KNIVES

Knives for a national costume, decorative knives, gifts, and knives for those who collect.

The knives in this category are primarily those that I have designed for the Norwegian national costume.  Up until now I have made knives for the areas in the east of Norway. I have also made them for areas such as, Hallingdal, Hordeland, Sunnmøre, Lofoten, Telemark and Rogaland (For those of you that are interested, this covers a large part of Norway.. Time to get out the Atlas maybe?)

THE CLASSIC

The classic model is a good everyday usage knife which is spiced up with silver. The silver comes either with very little or no decoration.

It has similarities with older Norwegian knives. The classic can be used togheter with all types of clothing and for all types of occasion , inkludet National dress where one wants a moore  discreet knife than a normal dress knife. This is a very popular alternative.

ARTISTIC KNIVES

This is a group of knives for those connoisseurs who want something that is extra special.  Shape, colour choice of materials and that little bit extra are found within this section.  You will find knives in this section that have been made on a sudden impulse, or a knife that I have made as an experiment.  Here no knife is alike.  They are unique. Unique that is apart from one. This is the Fenalårs knife

HISTORICAL KNIVES

These knives come primarily from an area where the shape or usage has a historical background. The models known as "Brage" and "Eir" have something in common.  They both have a pattern recognised from Northern Germanic styles from the 4th and 5th century.  From this  the  dragon style  was developed. this is a style that is uniquely Norse and dates from the 13th century.  

The Bergmann Knife is a recreation of the knife used by miners.

Some people have the need for a special knife.  I have made some out of  due to my own experiences, and of course after the wishes of others.  These are chosen because they are either extremely practical or have a special function.
