DESIGN AND PATTERNS FROM THE PAST
|
|
These knives come primarily from an area where the shape or usage has a historical background. The models known as "Brage" and "Eir" have something in common. They both have a pattern recognised from Northern Germanic styles from the 4th and 5th century. From this style the knife "Dragoon style" was developed.
The Bergmanns Knife is a recreation of the knife used by miners.
HFL = hand-forged, three-layer laminated blade. (traditional) |

NORRØN (Nordic knife)
|
|
DEMONSTRATION KNIFE This is the first series that I made with silver work with a raised relief pattern.
The design is taken from 4 Nordic factors. A typical Eskilstunadsblade that was used old-fashioned knives, long, round endplates, a shaft of Ebony (as this was seen to be the best type of material). The endplates are long like those on the Toten knife and the pattern is in " dragon style" from the 12 century.
This knife is the knife that shows the quality of my techniques in silver decoration and is used as my token knife. It carries a price of 10.000 NOK.

DEMONSTRATIONKNIFE. Price 8500 NOK
"BRAGE" is the son of the norse god "ODIN" and was the god that had presight into the past and was the story teller.. This knife has decorative elements on all silverware found in the 4th and 5th centuries. This is not just a fantasy picture but is inspired of original archaeological finds that have been adjusted to suit this knife. The Original is most likely silver fittings found on strapping, coaches and buckles from clothing. The picture shows figures with head, thigh and both fore and back foot. In total there are 7 different fittings on this knife. The finish at the top of the knife is a sword button, and the shaft and sheath form are typical of the area in Norway called Østerdalen, which is based on a fat brown trout I first made this knife in 1993 in a few different types .
